The dashboard lights on Honda vehicles are designed to provide drivers with essential information about the state of the vehicle. It’s not possible just to change the color. Depending on how you drive, it changes.
According to the owner’s manual for the Civic:
Ambient Meter: Reflects your driving style by changing the color.
Green: Driving that saves fuel
White Green: Acceleration is moderate/deceleration
White: Accelerating or decelerating aggressively
Depending on whether you are braking or accelerating, the ambient meter color changes.
How To Change Dashboard Color On Honda Civic 2020?
Changing the bulbs is not a good idea. In that case, you would have to remove the gauge cluster and attempt to disassemble it so you can look if any LEDs are replaceable at the back.
There is a lot of work involved and it is often not worth it. We are talking about hours of work and the possibility of breaking something here.
Press Down Firmly on One End of Each Colored Wire Leading from Beneath the Center Stack
To change the dashboard color on a Honda Civic 2020, locate and press down firmly on one end of each colored wire leading from beneath the center stack.
The colors will then light up sequentially to indicate which wire is activated. Once you have found the desired color, release your pressure on the wires and it will stay lit for about five minutes.
If you need to switch back to the original dashboard color, simply repeat these steps in reverse order- starting with black and working your way clockwise around the array of colors until you reach white again.
Enjoy your new dashboard look.
Strip About 1″ (~2cm) of Insulation Off Each End of Each Wire
Start by removing the dash cover. Remove the screws securing the dashboard to the car frame and remove it. Unplug all of the connectors from underneath, then disconnect each wire using a flathead screwdriver or a pair of pliers.
Strip about 1″ (~2cm) of insulation off each end of each wire and connect them together in pairs so they form a chain. Reattach everything under the Dashboard, making sure that your new colors are facing outwards towards the vehicle exterior.
Twist wires together so they form an “S” shape
To change the dashboard color on a Honda Civic 2020, twist wires together so they form an “S” shape. This will activate the headlight relay and change the dashboard light bulb to your desired color.
You’ll need to remove the center console cover first and then unscrew two screws that hold on the dash paneling. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully before beginning this project so you don’t damage your car or yourself.
Reattach All Cables, Push HDM Back into Its Hiding Place, and Replace the Console Cover/button panel
If you have a Honda Civic 2020, follow these simple steps to change the dashboard color: detach all cables, push HDM back into its hiding place, and replace the console cover/button panel.
Remember to reconnect all cables before pushing HDM out of the way again. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to do this on our website or in the owner’s manual that came with your car.
Be sure to take pictures along the way so you know exactly what needs to be done in order for you to change your dashboard color. Changing your car’s dashboard color is an easy and affordable way to update your look without spending a lot of money.
Find and Press Down Firmly on One End of Each Colored Wire Leading from Beneath the Center Stack
If you want to change the dashboard color on your Honda Civic 2020, find and press down firmly on one end of each colored wire leading from beneath the center stack.
You’ll need a Phillips head screwdriver in order to remove the screws that secure the dash cover. Next, gently pry off the old cover and replace it with your desired new design- whether it’s a colorful neon theme or something more subtle and understated.
Make sure to reinstall all of the screws before replacing any electrical connectors or hiding wires behind paneling; otherwise, your new look may be compromised later on. Finally, give everything a once over for any final touches (such as adding stickers) and you’re ready to go.
Honda Civic 2020 owners can change the dashboard color by accessing hidden storage compartments behind a round button with a lighted indicator (see images below).
Console control buttons are located in 3rd image and release clips to access wires beneath the center stack. Stripped insulation + twisted wires = “S”. To replace the console cover/button panel, remove stripped insulation and twist wires together into a loop before securing back onto the panel using screws (7th & 8th images).
