The Honda Passport is one of the most versatile SUVs on the market. It exudes an athletic character from both a design and performance standpoint, but it also delivers a comfortable ride, plenty of cargo space, and decent fuel economy. It also has many standard features, excellent smartphone integration, and plentiful interior storage.
Sandwiched between the best-selling CR-V compact crossover and the larger three-row Pilot, the 2024 Honda Passport is the proverbial middle child, inconspicuously crafting its identity in the shadow of its counterparts.
That’s a lot of pop psychology to say the five-passenger, two-row Passport is similar to both — roomy but nimble, rugged but polished — yet occupies its niche. The revised-for-2024 TrailSport trim further helps the Passport stand out with its all-terrain tires and trail-tuned suspension. Honda has revised the TrailSport’s tires and suspension this year to provide additional traction while off-roading.
Fishy? A question arises, do car seats fit in the 2024 Honda Passport? Details here.
Do Car Seats Fit in a 2024 Honda Passport?
The Passport has three sets of lower Latch anchors, allowing parents to install car seats in any rear seat. With chunky, rigid connectors, they’re easy to use. With skinny, hooklike connectors, they require a bit of muscle to connect.
The middle seat’s anchors are marked differently than the outer seats’ anchors, signaling that the Latch anchors need to be used as sets and can’t be shared across seats. The Passport’s three tether anchors sit at the base of the seatbacks, hiding them from view.
A label alerts parents that the top tether anchors are below the cargo floor; to access them, you have to slide the rear seat forward. We’re not fans of this tether location as many parents forget about this important anchor, and having it hidden below the cargo floor makes that more likely to happen.
The Problem: With three sets of Latch anchors in the backseat, the 2022 Honda Passport caters to families with kids in car seats. This five-seat mid-size SUV is a shortened version of the popular three-row Honda Pilot SUV.
Does it fit three car seats? Yes, but to get three car seats to fit across the 2022 Passport’s backseat, our installer had to use the seat belt to install the infant seat in the middle seat rather than the Latch anchors.
Take a look at how the Latch system and each car seat scored below in our Car Seat Check of the 2022 Honda Passport.
Before we jump into the details, here is what you need to know about our grading scale.
- Grade A: Plenty of room for the car seat and the child; doesn’t impact driver or front-passenger legroom. Easy to find and connect to Latch and tether anchors. No fit issues involving head restraint or seat contouring. Easy access to the third row.
- Grade B: One room, fit or connection issue. Some problems accessing the third row when available.
- Grade C: Marginal room plus one fit or connection issue. Difficult to access the third row when available.
- Grade D: Insufficient room, plus multiple fit or connection issues.
- Grade F: Does not fit or is unsafe.
Now, here’s the fun part.
A Grade Materials
Rigid Latch connectors made it a breeze to install this rear-facing car seat, and there was no need to move the front passenger seat forward to accommodate it. Such as the infant seats.
B Grade Materials
The rear-facing convertible seat just fits into the Passport’s backseat. Our convertible seat has hooklike Latch connectors that took a little extra effort to connect to the Passport’s Latch anchors. We didn’t struggle for too long, however.
The outboard seats are wide, and our high-back booster seats fit well. The seat belt buckles, however, are floppy, making it difficult for kids to buckle up independently. For example, the booster seats.
C Grade Materials
Again, we struggled briefly to connect this car seat and its skinny connectors to the lower Latch anchors. To connect to the hidden top tether anchor, we had to slide the rear seat forward to access the anchor below the cargo floor.
We also installed the forward-facing convertible in the second row’s middle seat with the booster and infant seat in the outboard seats to see if three car seats would fit; a child sitting in the booster seat must be able to reach the seat belt buckle.
If there’s a third row, we install the booster seat and a forward-facing convertible. Learn more about how we conduct our Car Seat Checks.
For the Car Seat Check, we use a Chicco KeyFit 30 infant-safety seat, a Graco Contender 65 convertible seat, and a Graco TurboBooster seat. The front seats are adjusted for a 6-foot driver and a shorter passenger.
The three child seats are installed in the second row. The booster seat sits behind the driver’s seat, and the infant and convertible seats are installed behind the front passenger seat.

Should You Buy the 2024 Honda Passport?
As we reviewed the Honda Passport earlier, it’s a handsome catch for any on-road experience. It outsmarts any other competitors in the market.
Unlike its competitors, the Passport features a powerful V6 engine. It is punchy and efficient. Plus, the 9-speed transmission is impressively smooth.
We all know Edmund is a powerful testing platform online. The Passport scores at 0-60 MPH in 6.8s ONLY. Plus, it’s also more than average in terms of genuine functionalities. The steering is nice and steady for your SUV to be fully responsive and lightweight.
However, we believe Honda can do a little more. There is room for improvement. The brake is stable and easy to maneuver. We don’t have any complaints about it. However, if you brake the pedal hard, you may hear a bit of a squishy sound which you are not prepared for.
Additionally, the Passport price may not be ideal for all too. It’s typical for its class. However, in inclusion of the premium materials, assembly body, and wide body, we can vouch for the rising price. It’s a comfortable ride for an above-average bargain.
The panel gaps are small and equal. Plus, the plastic cabin is soft! It comes genuinely with a high-class black trim and matte finish.
The new Passport gets the Honda warranty coverage and additionally, the roadside assistance comes with 3-years/ 36,000 miles. Learn more about the Honda warranty here. Seems like a good deal for you? Let us know your opinion below.
