A popular mid-size sedan that has been on the road for decades, the Honda Accord has been one of the best-selling cars in the world for many years. Sales haven’t slowed down yet, and it doesn’t seem like that will change anytime soon.
Accord sales numbers have increased over the years as the car has grown more significant, efficient, and intuitive. However, six trim levels are available for the Accord, so you might wonder which one to select.
Based on comparison of the Honda Accord Sport’s specifications and ratings with the Honda Accord Touring, the Honda Accord Sport scores higher in areas like fuel efficiency, interior volume, and typical lower used-car pricing.
The Accord Touring is the top of the line package. And the Accord Sport is its cousin with some minor features missing.
The Sport trim might be the best choice if you want to save some money while still getting the necessities, but not if you want to spend more on the top-trim Touring.
Differences Between Honda Accord Sport & Honda Accord Touring
In addition to the powertrain and suspension, the interior and exterior accents of the all-new Honda Accord have been upgraded. As a result, this mid-size sedan, already one of the best on the market, has now leapfrogged most of its competitors.
All other segments’ imports have comparable prices, but the Accord stands out due to its list of standard and optional features. For example, sports and Touring trims are two of the most popular.
The Touring comes with everything but the kitchen sink, while the Sport builds on the base LX. Buyers need to explore both versions carefully. While the Sport will satisfy many, Touring will cover all bases if all bases must be covered.
Honda Accord Touring
The Honda Accord Touring trim is at the top of the range. There is a price difference of $10,000 between this and the Sport trim, but it also comes with many more features.
It comes standard with a leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
A navigation system is also included, along with heated rear seats. As well as the head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, and parking sensors, the Accord Touring also comes with a moonroof.
In addition, a system that enables you to adjust damper response based on road conditions enables you to drive more safely and comfortably.
Touring trims only come with one engine option, and thankfully it’s the same turbocharged 2.0-liter engine you can get with Sport trims.
Honda Accord Sport
We’ll look at what the Accord Sport offers for the money. You’ll get everything the base-trim LX has, plus some extra features.
A 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with eight speakers and 19-inch alloy wheels are all included in the latest Accord Sport.
The Sports Special Edition trim also comes with sport pedals, a rear spoiler, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, but you have to pay extra for leather seats. Additionally, there are two engine options.
A High-Tech Environment
Sport trims feature rear view cameras, push-button ignitions, a driver info display, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
The package also includes Bluetooth. Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and the automatic emergency braking are among the safety features.
All Accord trims include smartphone app integration. A larger display screen and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also part of the Touring model.
All of the above-mentioned features are available in the Touring model, plus parking sensors front and back. The Touring trim also comes with a wireless phone charger.
The Exterior And Interior Of The Vehicle
The Accord Sport trim steps up the game compared to the base LX trim. Wheels are 19 inches, and a rear spoiler, LED fog lights, and chrome exhaust tips are included.
There is also an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment and a split bench seat in the rear. The interior features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth, simulated leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
This trim also includes shift paddles. Keyless entry and heated front seats are also included with the larger engine.
In addition to 19-inch wheels, the Touring trim has adaptive suspension dampers. There are also rear air vents and a sunroof as standard features.
A heated rear seat, chrome exterior trim, and illuminated door handles are also included in the Touring. Lower trims can add some of these features, but the Touring already comes with all of them as standard.
Powertrain Choices
A 1.5L direct-injected, turbocharged engine is available on all Honda Accord trims rated at 192 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission in both Sport and Touring trims.
It is estimated that the vehicle will achieve 33 miles per gallon on the highway. Turbocharged 2.0L engines are available in the Sport and Touring trims. The 10-speed automatic transmission is paired with a 252-horsepower engine.
Sport trims, however, are available with a manual six-speed transmission regardless of engine choice, unlike Touring trims.
Despite the vehicle’s better-than-average acceleration, drivers will appreciate the almost unnoticeable fraction of a second that separates the push on the gas pedal and the response from the engine.
The Bottom Line
Since the Sport trim is more budget-friendly and offers everything you need, we’re comparing these two Accord trims. Given the abundance of features available on the Touring trim, you’ll get a near-luxurious experience.
However, Is the $10,000 extra worth it for the Touring model? It does, technically, since many of its features are the same as those found on Acuras, for example.
The EX-L trim is also available if you decide the Accord Touring is too much for your budget. Despite not having heated rear seats or a heads-up display, this car still comes with most of what you’d find in a luxury car.
You cannot go wrong with almost any model year regarding the Honda Accord because it’s one of the most spacious, affordable, practical, and fun, mid-size sedans available.
